Masters Training 3 coming up at 13:50 local time (CDT)
Yesterday's Training sessions wrapped up with a familiar rivalry and the biggest story of 2015 so far, as Matt Hall attempts to steal victory from current leader and former World Champion Paul Bonhomme.
Matt Hall grabbed a first place finish in Training 1, while Bonhomme answered the call with a ripper of a final run in Training 2, knocking Hall off the top spot in the timesheets.
Le Vot is in the air, and he's just waiting for the green light to fly into the track to kick start the final Training session here at Fort Worth.
And it's a difficult first run for Le Vot, as he picks up a penalty at Gate 7 for incorrect level flying. And more penalties pushes up his time - insufficient smoke and incorrect level flying at the Finish Gate. He's got another Run to make it right.
A much better start as he clears Gate 8, 9, 10... clean through Gate 11 and it's looking smoother out there for the 2015 Master Class newcomer.
Le Vot 1:00.808 - the closest he's got to sub-1 minute so far at this stop.
Next we've got Spanish pilot Juan Velarde. It's his first season in the Master Class and he managed a good 9th place finish in yesterday's Training.
Slower through the Start Gate than Le Vot but Juan quickly picks up the pace to knock 0.743 off the splits. He's shaving off tenths of a second here and there and as he passes through the Finish Gate, it's a clean run for the Spaniard and he's up unto first.
A quick turnaround and he's back for Run 2... he's found his lines and it's one last turn around the track before Qualifying. Time to refine those lines and in Split 3 he's found the corners he needs to cut, saving 0.100s ... an improved performance as he clocks in at 58.896 - almost 3s faster than Training 1!
Besenyei coming into the track now... The Hungarian pilot has switched up his Corvus for an Edge 540 this season and has been getting to grips with the new race plane in the latter half of this season.
The technical track here at Fort Worth is proving a tricky customer for Besenyei; he's just picked up two penalties at Gate 8 and the Finish Gate.
Just coming back around for his second Training 3 run...
Slower through the start gate at 198.37kts but he's picked up the pace and challenges Velarde. PIcking up pace though Gates 9, 10, 11.... and he's found almost two seconds! That's his first clean run for the timesheets in all Training sessions and a good solid performance.
Besenyei 56.957
USA local hero Chambliss in the track now. He's on form and looking great out there at his home race and it's looking positive for the American pilot.
Did we speak too soon? The splits are back in the red, he's 0.191 off Besenyei's pace! Chambliss needs to pick it up and push harder to get a good spot on the timesheets for Training 3
... And a final kick as he picks up a penalty for incorrect level flying through the Finish Gate. The pilots need to stay focused right until that very last pass... it's caught a few of them out already.
We have a saying here... "green is good" and we're seeing green split times... but NO! Gate 8 is at it again as Kirby doesn't snap those wings straight... he's picked up two seconds in penalties and that's his second run done and dusted.
Chambliss 59.275
2014 Fort Worth winner Nicolas Ivanoff now taking his turn in Training 3
He's not had a stellar season by any stretch of the imagination but never underestimate the Frenchman. He specialises in technical tracks and could well be a major podium threat
And just like that, he's nailed his first run - clean and WOW! He's just EQUALLED Besenyei's time down to a hundredth of a second!
It'll have to do as he goes off the rails in his second run, with FOUR penalties - exceeding the start speed limit, incorrect level flying at Gates 7 and 8 and a PYLON hit at the Finish Gate. Pushing too hard, too soon.
Quick breather as the pylon is replaced. The Air Gators have got it down to a fine art
Japanese pilot Yoshi Muroya now in the track. Yoshi is currently in 8th place overall in the World Championship standings, and is considered one of the 'dark horses' for each race for the podium.
He's cool but aggressive and keeps his head in the most difficult of conditions... here in Fort Worth in the short and sweet technical track he's on point... 55.731
That's faster than both Bonhomme and Hall yesterday!
He's tiring in this second run and has misjudged his re-entry into the track, racking up a penalty for exceeding the start speed limit swiftly followed by a penalty at Gate 8.
Mangold says this is where the race can be won or lost and Yoshi is a case in point. Get it right, and you could be at the top. Get it wrong, and you'll be left wandering mid-field in the results.
Muroya squeezes in a third run and it's good - 57.843 but his first full-throttle run is the one that counts. He's just given Hall and Bonhomme something to really think about.
Dolderer in next. The German pilot has had a frustrating season for sure. He's more than capable of picking up podium places but he seems to have lost his confidence somewhere along the way.
A good clean start for Dolderer and he's in the green split times, but he's lost around half a second as he approaches Gate 11, and the Finish Gate sees him come in at +1.040 off Muroya's time.
It's OK though - it's clean and fairly quick and will give him a boost for his second run before he heads into Qualifying.
Dolderer back in for Run 2 and he's passed through those chicanes cleanly but could shave a little time off if he tightens up just a fraction. And it seems he's done just that! 0.364 quicker than Muroya through Gate 12, 13 and 14 and wow! What a great performance from Dolderer. That'll surely give him a lift just as he needs it as he clocks in with 55.711
There's just enough box time for one more Run and he's going all out, but he's just 1kt over the Start Speed limit and it's an extra second on his time. Climbing too high at Gate 4 and incorrect level flying at Gate 8... it seems once you've lost your line in this track, it's a struggle to get back on form...
ANOTHER penalty at Gate 10 and Dolderer is over and out.
That second run is all he needed and he's up there currently in first position on the timesheets
